At Delphinus Web Design, we used a scaled "per page" pricing system, as opposed to an hourly rate.  Because things in this world rarely (if ever) go according to plan, it's impossible to accurately predict how long a project will take.  We think you should pay for the amount of work done, not the time it takes the designer to complete it, nor do we gaze into a crystal ball to divine how long we think it will take.  You won't get hit with a surprise bill when things take a little longer than planned.  You decide on how many pages you need and what special features you want, a little addition is done, and you have your estimate.

Delphinus Web Design may charge by the hour in certain circumstances.  We may charge hourly for additional work beyond the scope of the signed agreement, such as adding pages, content updates, and so on. Even then, you will be given an estimate for the additions before we do the work. We will perform the extra work only after you have given us written approval.  We also charge hourly for consultation services, when the client does not wish to have us perform any design work.  Consultation is included for free as part of any design project.

What do you charge?

The following pricing chart covers all the associated costs of developing a web site from start to finish. This includes (but is not limited to) design of the template, all coding work (including keywords for search engines), photo manipulation and optimization, page population, link testing, and browser compatibility testing.

Why does the 1st (Home) page cost so much more?

The Home Page is a template around which the rest of the site is based.  Designing the Home Page involves creation of the concept, color scheme, font selection, text styles, keywords, and other essential aspects of the design process.  The home page is, in short, where the majority of the work takes place. 

By the same token, the Home Page is the one page that is fine-tuned and revised the most. The Home Page is not considered finished until you approve the design and layout, because all subsequent pages are based on that template.  Changing something halfway through the design process requires altering every page of the site, whereas any changes to the initial template can be replicated as new pages are built.  It is therefore critical that the Home Page meets your approval before work on the rest of the site can begin, and most of our attention is focused on making that happen.  The higher price of the Home Page reflects this extra work.

Additonal Services

Normal web design features such as interactive forms and basic image retouching are included in the above prices.  Other services which go outside the normal scope of a basic website are detailed below:
